It seems that the peak of the 3rd wave of Covid in Delhi has passed : Jain : The Tribune India

New Delhi, January 20

Delhi’s Health Minister Satyendar Jain said on Thursday it appears the peak of the third wave of Covid has passed in the nation’s capital, although he warned the city was not yet out of the danger zone.

Interacting with reporters, Jain said Delhi had recently seen a record rise in daily Covid cases with more than 28,000 cases recorded in one day and the positivity rate had also exceeded 30%.

“This peak that Delhi saw can be seen as the peak of the Covid wave and it looks like we are past the peak now… The number of daily cases has been declining for the past few days. Over 13,000 cases have been recorded yesterday with a positivity rate of almost 24% and today the number of cases is lower than that,” he said.

The nation’s capital reported 28,867 new Covid cases on January 13, the largest one-day spike here since the pandemic began, with a positivity rate of 29.21%. By January 14, the positivity rate had risen to over 30%.

Jain, however, warned that the peak of the Covid wave may have passed in Delhi, but “we still cannot say that we are out of the danger zone yet and need to monitor the trend”.

Asked about the easing of some restrictions, the minister said that proactive measures had also led to a drop in the number of cases and that for any decision to ease the restrictions, “we will first have to monitor the situation in the coming days. “.

Regarding a reduction in the number of tests to detect the infection, Jain claimed that Delhi was still carrying out more daily tests than other states and “no one is being denied a test, if necessary”.
