Yosemite Makes Big Changes to Park Visitor Rules for Peak Season – GV Wire

Yosemite National Park announced Tuesday that no reservations will be required to visit the park next summer.

The park had required reservations for the past three years in an effort to control visitor numbers due to the pandemic and ongoing infrastructure repairs.

Yosemite, one of the nation’s most beloved and visited national parks, has long struggled to try to stay open to as many visitors as possible, sometimes resulting in bumper-to-bumper traffic on the roads from Yosemite Valley and less than -ideal nature experience.

Access management continues to be a concern, and the park is planning an announcement in December as part of seeking public input on designing “an approach that provides an excellent visitor experience while protecting the natural and cultural resources of Yosemite”.
